Boombox

A few months ago, I read that the lead singer of Boombox's mom was in The Grateful Dead. Boombox doesn't really sound like The Grateful Dead, but that made sense to me. Sometimes you can't always explain why things mesh well, but that is what's so great about the comparison. When I asked myself to summarize Boombox, I thought "jam band with a drum machine" - which I think would make Mrs. Boombox and her Grateful Dead friends proud. There's nothing sublime or original about their sound, but for some reason their album is one of my most played on iTunes... I can't explain that either.
The two-man group is from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, but they have no southern influence in their music. It's an electo jazz that sounds like something you would hear in a French strip club. Don't let the sushi-bar vibe fool you though, Boombox is great for all settings.
